Golf With Your Friends is exactly what you might think it is from reading the name. It's an online miniature golf simulator that's currently in Early Access on Steam. Now, this certainly isn't the first mini-golf sim to hit Steam, so what sets it apart? Well, unlike most golf games on Steam, this one's actually good. Really good. The amount of care and effort that went into designing this still unfinished game really shows in its creative courses and imaginative holes. Golf With Your Friends really takes advantage of its digital world by providing complex and creative holes that simply wouldn't be possible in real life. We're talking huge ramps, conveyor belts, water slides, complex tunnels, and more.
As you might have guessed from the title, Golf With Your Friends offers a fully functional online co-op mode. Playing with your friends (or complete strangers) is really where the game shines. There's nothing like sitting back, relaxing, and kicking some virtual mini-golf butt. While there are still some bugs with the net code, the servers are pretty stable for an early access game. At the time of writing this, there's currently four available courses in the game. There's Forest, Oasis, Haunted, and Twilight. Each of these courses has 18 individual, unique, and engaging holes each with their own twists. The themes for each of these courses are really cool. Forest is a few beginner holes with your classic windmill and such, followed my some more complex holes with conveyor belts, bouncing pads, and a sawmill. Oasis is an Egyptian style course featuring more complex holes with sandpits, water slides and traps, and a giant ancient temple. Haunted is a Halloween themed haunted house course. It's very unique in the way it's laid out and often requires some thinking to figure out how to reach the hole. Finally, Twilight is a mystical grove themed night course. It's very atmospheric, similar to haunted, requires some creative thought to complete the course. I can't forget to mention one of my favorite parts of the game. When creating an online lobby, you can set modifiers for the game. They include ball shape, ball size, bounciness, gravity, whether jumping is allowed, and some other features. Playing around with these modifiers can create some wacky and amusing games. For example, try making all the golf balls giant cubes and see what happens. Overall I'd say Gold With Your Friends is a perfect example of Early Access done right. There's plenty of content in the game already and it's fairly polished. The developers are still making and releasing new content for Golf With Your Friends on a regular basis. It's definitely worth the buy, especially if you have some friends to play it with. I've already sunk over 40 hours into it and I'm still having a great time. I can't wait to see what the next patch will include.

Steam is the primary video game distribution platform in the PC market. They sell thousands of games and offer online connectivity with your friends, community message boards, mod support for many games, a community market place, and the Steam Wallet. The steam wallet is essentially what it sounds like. It's a digital wallet you can deposit money into through gift cards, money transfers, or selling game items on the community market place. The money in your Steam Wallet can be spent on anything on Steam including games, software, movies, dlc, and in-game items. For this reason, the redeemable codes found on the back of the Steam gift cards are a hot trading item, both among the Steam community and other internet hubs. Many people trade the Steam Wallet codes for things like in-game items unavailable on the marketplace or player services for multiplayer games. The demand for Steam Wallet codes has also sparked many different websites and communities offering the codes for free. Some legitimately, and some not. One example of a commonly used scam is know a Steam Code Generator. These are downloadable programs claiming to be able to generator working Steam Wallet Codes. Often times, these programs are actually just viruses or malware. Another example are "hack sites" which are websites promising to send you working, "hacked", Steam codes in exchange for money. These are usually scams with the intent to just take your money and send you a fake code. Any code that is real would likely be stole and could put your Steam account at risk.
While many scammers have popped up, there have also be many legitimate websites offering free Steam Wallet codes in exchange for simple tasks. A popular form of website, known as "Survey Sites", are among the most common websites known to do this. Survey sites typically offer rewards or money in exchange for completing a few online surveys. Companies are constantly looking for new feedback for their latest products. Many of them will offer you something for your time and opinions. While not all of these websites offer Steam Wallet codes as a reward, many have been known to. Other sites, known as "Ad Sites", offer a similar deal. Instead of giving their opinion, the user is asked to watch commercials and advertisements instead. Occasionally, they'll ask for a sentence or two of feedback but it's mostly just watching. Being able to tell the difference between a scam and a deal is crucial to staying safe on the internet. Stay away from anyone offering something for nothing. |
